PTE read aloud question type comes first in the exam for the speaking section. Looking at the question prompt type all students feel easy at first. But, when it comes to the exam day it brings down your confidence when unfamiliar words are put to pronounce.


Tips to Improve PTE Speaking Read Aloud

  1. Read aloud enable you to read the text aloud with appropriate intonation and pronunciation.
  2. Remember take care of the mic position.
  3. Microphone must be placed parallel to the chin for best result.
  4. This position will ensure that your breathing sound is not captured while speaking.
  5. Avoid touching the microphone, because touching the microphone are creating unnecessary sound, which can lower your PTE speaking score.
  6. Prepare the passage within 35 seconds. 
  7. Read the passage in a natural way.
  8. It checks both your reading and speaking abilities.
  9. Do not start speaking before the start time.
  10. Speak the text after one second when the time start.
  11. Complete the speaking within 40 seconds.
  12. Do not add additional words.
  13. Do not repeat or correct the wrong word again.
  14. Skip complicated words if you are unable to pronounce correctly.
  15. If the passage contains dollar symbol like $10 then speak it like ten dollars, the dollar will come after the digits.
  16.  Only take natural pauses i.e. only take pause on comma semicolon and full stop.
  17. If the passage contains three digits’ number or years like 102 and 2009 then pronounce it like one hundred and two and two thousand and nine.
  18. The passage may be long up to 60-70 words.
  19. Time is shared.
  20. Most important question in speaking section.
  21. Be confident and do not hesitate.
  22. Overall question 6-7 and each carry equal points.
  23. Total points are 44.1.
  24. Speaking points are 22.2.
  25. Reading points are 22.1.
  26. Focus on fluency and pronunciation.
  27. Question is marked based on content pronunciation and fluency.
  28. Practice a few times before the exam, to maintain reading speed and also speaking fluency.
  29. Submit the answer after finishing speaking.

PTE read aloud is assessed on three important elements

Content: Have you included all the words as per the given passage?

Oral Fluency: Your ability to speak in a fluent tone without hesitating or taking a long pause will determine your Oral fluency score.

Pronunciation: Are you able to demonstrate the proper speech sound as the normal speaker of the language? It is determined if your speech is easily understandable by most of the regular speakers.

If you believe on yourself then other will accept you and if not, then why other believe on you and confident is the key to success.
